To be honest this sounds dubious at best to me. I've had a quick scout around and I can't find any information that I would consider trustworthy on "cannabis toxicity".
I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that there were other factors that contributed to this mans death; alcohol, tobacco, poor diet and lack of exercise all spring to mind as possible candidates.
I did find an interesting article from the BMJ here.
