Wednesday night at the movies
Jul. 21st, 2005 12:19 amWell, that was unexpected. Ended up not going to see Batman Begins and watched The Descent instead.
I'll cheerfully admit that I was expecting yet another Hollywood teen-slasher movie but in a cave. What I was not expecting was an incredibly tightly paced movie with enough realism that it managed to make Sal leap squealing out of her seat on a number of occaisions (On one occaision yelling "Jesus holy Christ!").
Lots of unrelenting darkness, claustrophobic settings and horrific injuries... before the nastiness even really kicks off.
Definitely one to watch in the cinema, the effect just wouldn't be the same on a small screen.
I also may well, be avoiding going caving for a while after seeing this.
