I miss Avalon, I really want a cigarette and I am more than a little pissed off. Why? See below...

Bah! Just when I was really getting on top of things at work, something had to come along to piss me off. In this case 'something' is our new pathologist, George. Now don't get me wrong George is a lovely bloke he just also happens to be the pickiest, fussiest most pernickety bastard on the planet! For example; within a few days of starting he complained that the DPX (Mounting glue) was too thick on the slides and was obscuring the cellular detail. Fair enough I thought, I haven't had any complaints from the three other pathologists, but I'll make an effort to reduce the amount of DPX I use.
This apparently was not enough for George, so once again I reduced the amount of DPX. Still not good enough. So now I'm using so little mountant that the coverslips are falling off my slides, and he's *still* complaining!
As if this wasn't enough he has now decided that he doesn't like looking at air dried MGG preps and would instead prefer us to produce wet preps produced by some vague and esoteric method of his own devising. This sucks, I now have to produce completely different slide sets for samples depending on which pathologist is going to screening them (this is made more aggravating by the fact that which pathologist has 'dibs' on which sample is often information they do not bother to share with us lowly mortals). Also this has completely screwed my working pattern as I cannot produce the wet preps until I know he will be ready to view them immedietly afterwards ie before they dry out.
No I am really not happy about this. I wouldn't mind making a few changes to help him settle in but this wet prep malarky is liable to significantly increase my workload. All because he cannot get used to a staining method that is used world wide and accepted as one of the standards of cytopathological diagnosis. Oh well, theres not a lot I can do about it.
